The chamber Orchestra Mind Speller is strongly connected to the project of scientific research of the department of neuro and psychophysiology of the KULeuven. Through his orchestra Mind Speller, Tigran Maytesian, teacher at the KUL, ensures a special impact on the project.
Tigran Maytesian was born on the 10th of November 1970 in Armenia (Sevan). He started playing violin at 5 years old. Following his musical studies at Yerevan with Professor H. Yagubyan, he entered the Komitas Conservatory in Yerevan with Professor C. Hakhnazaryan. In Tallin (Estonia), Tigran continued his studies with Professor Yuri Gerets during an international exchange. It is during that period that, at the Estonia conservatory, he met Igor S. Bezrodny, one of the greatest violinist and pedagogue of the 20e century, who initiated Tigran to the tradition of the Russian violin school. From 1995 to 1998, Tigran has been assistant teacher at the Tchaikovsky State Conservatory in Moscow. During his studies, from 1987 to 1998, he was violin conductor of the orchestral ensemble of the Armenian Radio and Television, under the direction of Gevorg Adzhemian. Tigran lives in Belgium since 2000. From 2001 to 2006 he was first violin at the National Orchestra of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.
In 2008, Tigran Maytesian started a teaching career at the Lemmensinstituut (Conservatory of the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Belgium). Since 2009, he is teaching the violin class as well as the chamber music class. In 2011, he became a professor at the Faculty of Medicine of the Katholieke Universiteit, Leuven in Belgium, at the Neuro and Psychophysiology Laboratory. There, he practices scientific research and with Professor Marc Van Hulle, member of the same laboratory, he sets up the project "Mind Speller" (http:// simone.neuro.kuleuven.be). Professor Maytesian has successfully promoted that project by the Belarus, Armenian and Russian (Moscow) universities. Since 2012, he is successively artistic director of the International Festival of the Church of the Minimes and of the festivals Catharina in Brussels and St Andrieskerk et Elzenveld Kapel in Antwerp. He plays a violin of the Italian master Nicolo Amati as well as a Guarneri del Gesù.
L'Orchestre Mind Speller Chamber Orchestra est fortement lié au projet de recherche scientifique du département de neuro et psychophysiologie de la KULeuven. Par son orchestre Mind Speller, Tigran Maytesian, professeur à la KUL assure un rayonnement particulier au projet. Celui-ci fait partie intégrante du travail de recherche par ses applications sur les patients.

A Tallin (Estonie), Tigran poursuivit ses études auprès du professeur Yuri Gerets, dans le cadre d’un échange international. C’est à cette époque qu’il rencontre au Conservatoire d’Estonie Igor S. Bezrodny, un des plus grands violonistes et pédagogues du 20ème siècle qui l’initia à la tradition de l’école russe de violon. De 1995 à 1998, Tigran a été maître de stage assistant au Conservatoire d’Etat Tchaïkovski à Moscou. Durant ses études, de 1987 à 1998, il a été violon conducteur de l’ensemble orchestral de la Radio et Télévision arménienne, sous la direction de Gevorg Adzhemian. Tigran réside en Belgique depuis 2000. De 2001 à 2006 il a été premier violon à l’Orchestre national du Grand-Duché de Luxembourg.En 2008, Tigran Maytesian entame une carrière d’enseignant au Lemmensinstituut (Conservatoire de la Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Belgique). Depuis 2009 il enseigne dans la classe de violon et celle de musique de chambre. En 2011, il devient professeur à la Faculté de Médecine de la Katholieke Universiteit, Leuven en Belgique, au laboratoire de neuro et psychophysiologie. Il y pratique la recherche scientifique et avec le Professeur Marc Van Hulle, membre du même laboratoire, il a mis sur pied le projet « Mind Speller » (http:// simone.neuro.kuleuven.be). Le Professeur Maytesian a assuré avec succès la promotion de ce projet auprès des universités de Belarus, Arménie et Russie (Moscou). Depuis 2012, il est successivement directeur artistique du festival international de l’église des Minimes et des Festivals Catharina de Bruxelles, St Andrieskerk et Elzenvel Kapel à Anvers. Il joue un violon du maître italien Nicolo Amati ainsi qu'un Guarneri del Gesù.
